How it works

Prop your phone. Start. Go.

01
Standard push-ups first

Standard push-ups, front view. Incline, knee, and diamond are next, then squats.

02
Set the phone down

About four feet away at floor level, whole body in frame. A countdown gives you time to get in position.

03
Just do the work

Reps count themselves. Voice cues keep you honest without looking at the screen. Stop when you're done.

Rep scoring

One cue, not a report card.

After the set, LeanReps scores every rep on three things and then tells you the single most useful correction for next time. You can open the rep-by-rep breakdown when you want the detail.

Depth
Whether you're reaching a full range of motion on each rep.
Elbow tuck
How close your elbows stay to your ribs on the descent.
Tempo
Whether your pace holds steady as you fatigue.
Streak

Show up today. Beat your longest.

Your current streak follows you across Home, History and Progress, so the next day is always the obvious one. Your longest streak sits beside it as the number to chase.

Common questions

Answers to everything you might wonder.

Does it really count every rep?
Yes, and it's watching your body, not a timer. If a rep doesn't reach depth it still counts, but it pulls your depth score down — that's the point.
What if it miscounts?
It can, mostly when your whole body isn't in frame or the room is very dark. Reframe and it recovers. There is no manual mid-set editing — just reframe and keep going.
How do I set up my phone?
Prop it about four feet away at floor level, landscape, whole body in frame. A countdown gives you time to get down and set.
Do I need a tripod?
No. Lean it against a wall, a water bottle, a shoe. It just needs to sit still and see all of you.
Which push-ups does it support?
Standard push-ups, front view, right now. Incline, knee, and diamond variations are next, followed by squats and other bodyweight movements.
Does it work in a dark room?
It needs enough light to clearly see your body outline. Normal indoor room lighting or daylight is plenty, but pitch darkness won't work.
Is my video recorded or uploaded?
No. Frames are processed on your device and discarded immediately. Nothing is saved, nothing is sent, and there's no server to send it to.
Do I need an account?
No account, no email, no login. Open it and start.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Everything runs on your phone, so airplane mode is fine.
Which phones does it work on?
LeanReps supports devices running Android 8.0 and above, as well as iOS 18.2 and newer.
Will it drain my battery?
Very little — typically around 1–2% for a standard 10–15 minute workout session.
Is it free?
LeanReps is completely free during our initial rollout while we bring the system to production grade with real users. You get full access to all features with zero ads and no credit card required. Once we reach our target standards and build our core community, we plan to introduce paid options.
Do I need a watch or any other hardware?
No. Just your phone.
What happens to my history if I get a new phone?
Your workout history is stored strictly on your local device for privacy. We are working on a local data export and transfer feature for an upcoming update.
Do I need headphones for the voice cues?
No, your phone's built-in speaker is plenty. Voice cues can be toggled on or off per exercise in Settings, and you can also adjust default values and targets for each exercise.

Put the phone down and start counting.

Free to start. No account, no wearable, no setup beyond propping your phone.
